History

Derby Dental Laboratory was founded in 1987 by David Nunnally, CDT. David graduated from Louisville College 's Dental Laboratory Program in 1986. After working as an in house technician for a short time, David decided to open a small crown and bridge lab.

Derby Dental Laboratory was first located on Taylor Boulevard in the south end of Louisville . This location was only about three blocks away from Churchill Downs, hence the name " Derby " Dental Laboratory. At that time Derby Dental was not full-service, only a crown and bridge lab.

By 1989, increased recognition and workflow led to a relocation of Derby Dental Laboratory to downtown Louisville on the corner of Third and Oak streets. This would be the home of Derby Dental Laboratory for the next ten years. Derby Dental Laboratory became a full-service lab during this period.

In 1999, Derby Dental Laboratory acquired a building, which was previously used for producing elevators, on Logan Street in downtown Louisville . The building was completely renovated to be run as a state-of-the-art dental laboratory, and was designed to meet the lab's future growth needs. Derby Dental Laboratory is ready to meet the needs of its accounts well into the future with its superior facility and product choices.

By 2005 Derby had outgrown its facility and purchased a 20,000 sq. ft. historic building close to downtown Louisville.  This new laboratory was featured as the “Lab of the Month” in the February edition of LMT, a major national laboratory publication.
